Quick Answer: Perfect Parry Rules

A Perfect Parry in The Blood of Dawnwalker triggers when you align your weapon’s stance (High, Low, Left, Right) with the incoming enemy weapon within 150 milliseconds before impact. It costs 0 Stamina, inflicts 1.8 seconds of hard stagger on the enemy, and multiplies your immediate counter-attack (Riposte) damage by 250%.

The 4-Directional Stance System

Drawing from medieval HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), Coen uses the right analog stick (or directional mouse flick) to transition between four combat guards:

Executing Zero-Stamina Perfect Parries

Normal blocking absorbs damage at the cost of massive stamina drain. If your stamina breaks, Coen is left defenseless for 2.5 seconds.

The 3 Rules of Perfect Parrying:

  1. Watch the Shoulder, Not the Weapon Tip: Enemies telegraph their attack angle through torso rotation 300ms before swinging.
  2. Preset Stance Before Impact: Snap your stance to match the incoming strike angle early, then tap the Block button exactly 150ms before the blade connects.
  3. Follow Up with Riposte: A gold flash indicates a Perfect Parry. Immediately press Light Attack to execute a 250% critical puncture.

Armor and Stagger Mechanics

Armored foes possess Poise meters beneath their health bars. Defeating bosses like Corrupted Prior Mihai requires wearing down their posture using blunt force before landing finishing blows.
